John T. Martin B.A., J.D.
Managing Director

Mr. John T. Martin was born and raised in Canada. He had the benefit of being educated in his formative years in both Ontario and Quebec. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree of Arts in 1972, and subsequently graduated with a LLB (Bachelor of Laws) from the University of Ottawa in 1975.

His first employment was with the Bureau of Intellectual Property in the Federal Government of Canada in the mid 70′s. From there Mr. Martin moved to British Columbia, where he enjoyed a busy practice as a lawyer in various firms including his own, until 2003. Mr. Martin’s preferred areas of Law were Securities, Immigration, Real Estate and Debt Realization.

During his legal practice, Mr. Martin had the chance of meeting many clients from across the Pacific and hence acquired a good network in both China and Asia. Mr. Martin has been a regular visitor to South East Asian countries, Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and China, since 1985.

In 2003, after 20 years of successful practice in the legal field, Mr. Martin decided to meet a personal challenge in the Far East and he planned to settle down in Hong Kong. His first endeavor was to focus his expertise on the listing of many of the Chinese companies engaging in projects in both of clean energy sector and advertising. Being a seasoned professional with ample experiences in business dealings, He played an important part in the team work necessary to list companies.

Later, Mr. Martin relocated to Hong Kong in 2006 where he enjoyed a successful career as CEO of a prominent Hong Kong advertising company. He has been residing in Hong Kong since then. His past exposure in the investment banking business provides him with a rare insight into opportunities in the bad debt purchase market. He further canvassed the opportunities in the debt purchasing business in 2008, and subsequently caused Victoria and Grey Asset Company Limited to be incorporated.

William (Bill) Majcher B.Comm.
Managing Director

Mr. Majcher was born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada. He graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Mr. Majcher is currently the CEO of Sunwah International Asset Management (Cayman) Limited (SIAM), which is a majority owned subsidiary of Sunwah International Limited. SIAM is a global asset management platform focusing on emerging markets and natural resources.

Since 2007, Mr. Majcher has been an Executive Director plus Executive Chairman (since 2009) of China Investment Fund (HKEX stock code 00612). In this capacity, Mr. Majcher screened investment transactions, performed due diligence and supervised corporate finance individuals. He has also supervised both KYC and AML activities at the Fund. Prior to his activities at the China Investment Fund, he was Director of the Baron Total Absolute Return Fund, as well as the Baron Baotou Fund.

Mr. Majcher is a former Eurobond, Futures & Options trader, and commenced his career in London, England. He later used this experience during a twenty-two-year career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) retiring with the rank of Inspector and Officer In Charge of Capital Markets enforcement in Western Canada. Mr. Majcher spent many years working in a covert capacity for the Canadian & U.S. governments investigating & detecting capital markets fraud & abuse.

Mr. Majcher has experience as a Futures and Options broker and trader in both Canada and the United States, and has lectured extensively on abuse within the international capital markets, including sophisticated money laundering. He has been public steward overseeing expenditures of CAD$125 million a year of public funds in Richmond, British Columbia.

Prior to joining SIAM, Mr. Majcher was Managing Director of Baron Group, a full service merchant bank in Hong Kong focused on international business for the firm.
